Huskie Hackers participated in MLH’s AI Hackfest Hackathon for 2026. The group took the weekend to build an application that involved AI and chose to build the AI Accessibility Transcriber. It was half of the groups first digital hackathon and a huge learning experience to understand the process that is involved in a hackathon. They built an application in which used Google’s Gemini to transcribe an uploaded video and give the user the transcribed version back. It was originally split into 3 groups of AI, frontend, and database, but combining everything at the end was harder than everyone expected. The limited time stopped the group from adding all of the elements they wanted to add including different fonts for Dyslexia, color coding for ADHD, and slower pacing for auditory aid.
