The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius nearly 2,000 years ago carbonized a large library of ancient scrolls. They were simultaneously destroyed and preserved. Researchers believe that new technologies may be able to digitally unwrap these scrolls and reveal their contents.

In this competition, you’ll build a model to segment the surface of scrolls from CT scans, a critical step in virtually unwrapping texts that have remained sealed for centuries.
