71 North Supports Breakthrough Community Business Academy

A new initiative is transforming how communities approach entrepreneurship education. The Breakthrough Community Business Academy (CBA) serves as the flagship program of Breakthrough Business, an initiative dedicated to empowering individuals and uplifting communities in pursuit of the American Dream.

Building Community Through Business

The Breakthrough CBA operates on a simple but powerful belief: communities and individuals have visions for thriving futures, but they need breakthrough moments and companionship to realize those goals. This philosophy drives their unique approach to entrepreneurship education. The program is a 12-week, cohort-based academy designed for new and aspiring entrepreneurs as well as early-stage businesses. Rather than focusing solely on individual success, it cultivates community connections while building essential business skills.

Comprehensive Business Education

Participants learn all the fundamentals needed to run a successful business, including budgeting, marketing, bookkeeping, cash flow analysis, pricing strategies, and credit building. The curriculum covers practical skills that directly translate to real-world business operations. What sets the program apart are its three small business simulation classes. These hands-on experiences allow participants to test their new skills in competitive team environments, learning marketing and finance through practical application rather than theory alone.

From Learning to Impact

The Breakthrough CBA develops relationships, learning opportunities, and community partnerships that move people from where they are to where they want to be—for themselves, their families, and their communities. This approach creates lasting change that extends beyond individual participants. By combining comprehensive business education with community building, the program addresses both the technical and social aspects of entrepreneurship. Graduates leave with not only business skills but also professional networks and community connections that support long-term success. The Breakthrough CBA represents a new model for community-based entrepreneurship education, one that recognizes business success and community prosperity as interconnected goals. As the first installment of the broader Breakthrough Business initiative, it establishes a foundation for empowering entrepreneurs while strengthening communities across America.
